Automated Inspection Machines RoboInspect RIS

Precise in-line measuring and inspecting of indexable inserts and other precision parts

The RoboInspect RIS inspection machines examine dimensional accuracy and quality of the workpiece in the micron range. With their extensive functionalities for all-round inspection and measurement, these machines are perfectly suited for the automatic quality control of indexable inserts and other sensitive small parts from various industries. The use of the Roboinspect not only ensures product quality, but also significantly increases customer satisfaction.

The RIS 30 series and RIS 300 series distinguish themselves with integrated inspection functionalities. While the RIS 300 series is designed for a comprehensive all-around inspection of the component, opting for the RIS 30 series does not mean sacrificing this capability. This series can be easily upgraded to RIS 300.

All-round mesurement and inspection

of cutting inserts

And these are the inspections that can be carried out with a fully equipped RIS with both incident and transmitted light technologies:

  • Type recognition (mixed parts are reliably detected)
  • Extensive measurement options with the tried and tested "M-Box" toolbox
  • Multi-stage edge chipping inspection
  • Surface inspection (relief and color)

„Software modules, HMI, and image processing are developed in-house at ROBOWORKER, allowing for flexible and customized adjustments to meet specific customer needs. Our commitment to precision extends to our product lines, where both series guarantee 100% traceability of defects. All inspection images and measurement results are stored on the system and can be effortlessly accessed at any time through the integrated HMI with touchscreen and exported to ERP systems. The extensive statistics feature enables the generation of PDF and CSV formats."

Processing a batch of samples with RIS 30 P

The RIS 30 P excels at automatically processing an entire tray of samples without additional part handling. This capability makes it an excellent choice for efficiently examining both small and large sample sizes.

Top side measurements and inspections:

  • Dimensional accuracy
  • Type recognition
  • Edge inspection
  • Surface inspections (relief and color)

Further features:

  • Stand-alone solution with manual tray loading
  • PosFinder vision system to auto-acquire part position and orientation
  • Stackable measuring and inspection pallet (as an option with DMC code)
  • Intuitive control via 19“ touch screen
  • Product specific storage of inspection data in current formats for data bases (images and measurements)
  • Compact design
From the RIS 30-Series: Processing a batch of samples with RIS 30 P
Optionally expandable with cobots for increased autonomy
Higher autonomy through the use of cobots

Options:

  • For example, for greater autonomy, the measuring pallet exchange can be performed by a cobot. As the ROBOWORKER measuring and inspection pallet is designed to be stackable by default, complete stacks of pallets can be processed using the cobot.
  • Customer inspection technology can also be integrated on request.
  • The RIS 30 P is upgradable to RIS 300.

Measuring, inspecting, and laser marking on the rotary indexing table with RIS 30 RT

The RIS 30 RT enables the creation of highly productive workstations, e.g. in the finishing of PVD-coated indexable inserts. After the manual-unloading of the coating-rods, the inserts can be placed on the rotary indexing table for automatic measuring/inspecting and laser marking and then manually be placed into final packaging boxes.

Top side measurements and inspections:

  • Dimensional accuracy
  • Type recognition
  • Edge inspection
  • Surface inspections (relief and color)

Further features:

  • Stand-alone solution with rotary indexing table
  • PosFinder vision system to auto-acquire part position and orientation.
  • Intuitive control via 19“ touch screen
  • Color-marking of good and defective parts through LEDs in the loading/unloading zone.
  • Product specific storage of inspection data in current formats for data bases (images and measurements)
  • Compact design

Options:

  • Laser marking
  • Precision incident light sensor
  • Surface inspection of a part’s bottom side
  • Upgradable to RIS 300

A typical application example is the inspection of PCD/pCBN indexable inserts, where the correct positioning of the brazed tip is crucial for the quality and lifespan of the insert.

All-round measurements and all-round inspection with RIS 300

The RIS 300 is not only the perfect solution for measuring and inspecting of a great variety of work pieces. With its integrated palletizing function, the workpieces are organized on trays, package-boxes, blisters or similar containers after inspection.

Bad parts are segregated for possible further analysis.

The defect detection machine can optionally be extended with automatic tray stack processing or laser marking and packaging modules.
